...aber stattdessen das farblich schrille GRAFF Hermès Seidentwill Carré des Künstlers Cyril KONGO Phan.

When Hermès launched GRAFF, a graffiti scarf designed by Cyril “Kongo” Phan for the fall-winter collection 2011, the sales lady said that this was a scarf I must have…

Hermès wrote in theirAutumn-Winter 2011 CARRÈS’ STORIES:

“A member of a street artists’ collective, Kongo has traversed the planet from Brazil to Hong Kong to paint, create and exchange. A co-founder of the Festival international de Graffiti, he invites artists from all over the world to tag the streets of Bagnolet, in the Parisian suburbs. These communal works pay tribute to the dynamism and diversity of urban culture. From the New York subway to the streets of Paris, street art has established its pedigree. Here Kongo moves from concrete to silk. He expresses himself on this scarf as on a wall, with talent, boldness and energy. A typographical outpouring, a graphic explosion, a polychromatic ferment… Hermès, like the rest of the world, is constantly changing!”

When the sales assistant draped GRAFF over the table two years ago I was impressed and an interest was sparked…

…but not that madly in love with it that I would have taken it home with me. Maybe the color scheme wasn’t right. I don’t know.

Well, somewhere along the way I saw it in these colors – orange, violet, pink, rose, gold, bottle green, olive – and that’s when it hit me and I thought that if I’d ever get the chance to buy it in a sale then yes, it would be mine.

Tata! Here it is, GRAFF in full glory! Isn’t it amazing? It does need getting used to, though. But as so often with art, it needs a bit of time to acquaint oneself with it. Now I find it spectacular – I’ve had two years time too look at it. Now the time has come – my time  and it’s found its way into my closet     😀

Tata!

Although my trip to Paris was very short and my friend E. and I went across the city like two crazy women, nearly talking our heads off (I am still surprised, that our jaws didn’t unhinge     😀      ) , we still managed to sit and enjoy some delicious French specialties and a mouth-watering strawberry tarte!     🙂

Do you have a scarf that was “love on second, third, fourth… sight”? What made you decide to obtain it in the end?

      🙂      I wish you a very HAPPY Thursday!     🙂

🙂      Ich wünschen Ihnen einen GLÜCKLICHEN Donnerstag!     🙂

I love your scarf! The colours are wonderful and I think it’s a perfect timeless way to be able to look at and wear contemporary art. Well done! I only have a very few H carres that I’m building up very, very slowly. I find choosing scarves takes so much more time and thought which makes a good change from the bags lol! 🙂 There are certain designs that I know aren’t right for me but once or twice I’ve gone back to a certain design because it was a classic and colours were right for me. I think if the colours aren’t right, it’s never going to be mine.

      Thank you very much!
You are building up a collection? How do you do that?
I just go by what I like 🙂
I think the colors are very special, too. And yes, you are absolutely right – it’s the colors that make a scarf and if the colors are not good for you, then even the most sought after scarf will just not be “it”!
Do let us know how you collect your (H) scarves 🙂
      Have a very HAPPY weekend!

I felt I didn’t give enough thought when I was buying my H bags although there was only 1 or 2 ‘mistakes’ which is good considering how quickly I acquired them all. Actually I didn’t plan to add to the H scarves I already had, only 2 as I have other scarves I love to wear. Then I changed my mind because, well who does colour better than H does? Colour was my motivation and pracitcality with the twillies for the bag handles. I admit I got the twillies in a much more spontaneous way – love the colours, got it! With the 90 carres I thought about the colours I wear and the types of outfits and the scarves that I already use often. From this point i could see what colours I was missing and the type of mood I wanted to complement my outfits. So most of the consideration and choices were colour based, less pattern and design. I realised | have fairly specific preferances based on my skin tone and obviously I can’t have patterns and colours that could overwhelm me being so short. So it’s fairly easy once I keep all that in mind. I bought 2 which are fairly classic and neutral with lots of white background then my most recent 2 which are newer and much more colourful, in fact one of them is really bright! So I hope to wear those soon. I hope this helps you too? 🙂 Enjoy your w/e!

– xo – S
