Weekly Photo Challenge: Symmetry

Debutantes of the Vienna Opera Ball 2015 entering the ball room (rehearsal)

Debutantes of the Vienna Opera Ball 2015 entering the ball room (rehearsal)

Since I’m still working on my blog post about this this week’s 59th Vienna Opera Ball, I was quite happy with “SYMMETRY” being the theme of the weekly photo challenge. When the Young Ladies’ and Young Gentlemen’s Dance Committee (a.k.a. the debutantes) enter the ball room, they do that in total symmetry – 160 couples in 4 rows: gentlemen outside and the ladies inside (the ladies on the far left and far right are two dancing teachers). Throughout their performance symmetry plays a big part.

Traditionally the opening ceremony also includes the ballet – dancers of the State ballet as well as of the Academy perform and on this picture with great symmetry in movement.

Everybody attending the Ball has to enter the the Vienna State Opera via its symmetric staircase.

101 crystal are lined up symmetrically to give the Swarovski “Swift” tiara that every debutante wears on this special night, this light, airy look. I promise you a picture of the enchanting debutante in my Opera Ball blog post that is due shortly.

🙂       Have a very HAPPY weekend, everybody!       🙂

🙂       Ihnen allen einen sehr SCHÖNES Wochenende!      🙂

I’m in New Zealand now. I try to go back to Vienna at least once every other year. Not sure when I may be back now. It’s a lovely city and I have great memories of it 🙂

🙂 I hope that one of these days I will be able to get a ticket for the Opera Ball and feel the atmosphere on this very special day.
I was lucky to be able to go to a rehearsal – it’s totally different from what one sees on TV, so much more lively and spectacular. It was incredible! 🙂
      HAPPY Valentine’s Day! 🙂

Rehearsal is just as good and I agree that it has an infectious atmosphere to be at the Opera. Happy Valentines!
