Pink Ribbon Vienna Parliament
October is pink ribbon month. Even though October is almost over, we should never forget what lies behind the pink ribbon breast cancer awareness thought. Ladies, check your breasts regularly! By doing so, you will know the feel of your breast well and will be able to recognize quickly if something feels strange. Go for check-ups regularly. If you have reached a certain age and/or there is breast cancer in your family, you will want to make sure that you go for a mammogram once a year. Prevent breast cancer as best as you possibly can!
Oktober ist der Pink Ribbon Monat. Und obwohl der Oktober fast schon vorbei ist, sollten wir den Gedanken, der hinter dem Bewusstsein-Schaffen gegen Brustkrebs liegt, nicht vergessen! Liebe Damen, untersuchen Sie Ihre Brust regelmäßig. Wenn Sie das tun, werden Sie wissen, wie sich Ihre Brüste anfühlen und Veränderungen schnell erkennen. Wenn Sie ein gewisses Alter erreicht haben, oder wenn es Fälle von Brustkrebs in Ihrer Familie gibt, sollten Sie jährlich zur Mammographie gehen. Tragen Sie selbst dazu bei den Brustkrebs – so gut Sie können – zu verhindern.

There are many companies out there that support the PINK RIBBON idea and release PINK RIBBON products every year. From their sales they donate a percentage (some donate all) for help in this matter. So far I have been able to purchase products that I really like:

Last year in October I was with my wonderful and lovely cousin Carie and her beautiful daughter C. in Ohio (many, many hugs and kisses to you two xoxoxoxo). I could not believe the amount of PINK RIBBON products that were offered in the US – no comparison to Austria. But: we are getting there!! – and the coolest item I saw was a pink Swiffer. Yes, I mean the thing to mop the floors – it would be so much more fun to clean the floors with a pink Swiffer. What do you think? Unfortunately it was too big for my suitcase…
Ich war letztes Jahr im Oktober bei meiner wunderbaren und zauberhaften Cousine Carie und ihrer wunderschönen Tochter C. in Ohio (Euch beiden Umarmungen und viele Küsse xoxoxoxo). Es war unglaublich, wie viele PINK RIBBON Artikel es in den USA gab. Gar kein Vergleich zu Österreich – obwohl: wir kommen langsam auch dahin! Das für mich coolste Produkt aber war ein pinkfarbener Swiffer. Ja, genau, ich meine das Teil, mit dem man die Fussböden aufwischt. Ist es nicht viel lustiger seinen Fussboden mit einem pinkfarbenen Swiffer zu säubern? Was meinen Sie? Leider war er zu groß für meinen Koffer….
As I said in my last post: I LOVE PINK. I love the idea behind the Pink Ribbon. But more than everything else I love and care for two very special ladies who have been through hell not too long ago, because they have suffered from cancer. I am so happy that they were able to fight and survive their battles!!!
Wie ich schon in meinem letzten Posting sagte: ICH LIEBE PINK. Ich liebe die Idee, die hinter der rosafarbenen Schleife, dem Pink Ribbon, steckt. Aber mehr als das hege ich eine tiefe Zuneigung für zwei ganz besondere Damen, die in letzter Zeit durch die Hölle gegangen sind, weil sie an Krebs erkrankten. Ich bin unendlich glücklich, dass sie ihre Kämpfe ausgetragen und überlebt haben!

Liebe Happyface, danke für den Beitrag. In den Blogs kommen wir ja alle ein wenig leichtfüssiger daher, als es das wirkliche Leben so spielt. Und da finde ich es großartig, wenn Du einmal ein ganz ernstes Thema anschneidest. Ich hatte vor benahe 30 Jahren , mein Gott ist das lange her, einen Knoten in der Brust. Damals hat man so was noch operiert, heute würde man beobachten, etc. Woran ich mich gut erinnern kann, und ich bin nicht der aufgeregte Typ, ist, an die Zeit bis zur OP und dann bis zum Ergebnis der Biopsie, das war alles andere als lustig. Bei mir war’s harmlos aber trotzdem.
Wünsche Dir etwas Pink im Tiefnebelgrau rundherum und eine schöne Restwoche – S

Liebe Sanne, so eine Situation ist bestimmt nicht schön – habe so etwas zum Glück nicht selber durchleben müssen und wünsche es mir auch nicht. Was für ein Glück im Unglück Du hattest! Den Stein, der Dir vom Herzen gefallen ist, als Du das Biopsie-Ergebnis bekommen hast, hat man sicherlich noch in Salzburg plumpsen gehört. Oder? – Die Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsmethoden verbessern sich mehr und mehr. Trotzdem sollte man nicht darauf bauen, dass alles behandelter ist. Ich wünsche Dir ein wunderschönes, laaaaaanges Wochenende! Herzliche Grüße 🙂

I really like the ribbon on the Vienna Parliament Building – only that I wish it was is lilac and stood for all cancers – not fair that breast and prostate cancer get all the attention – when there is so many other cancers – that kills every day, every minute. Same over here, many companies that launch pink products where some of the money goes to breast and prostate cancer foundation – an other thing .. every penny should go .. not only a small %. Love you pink post !

Dear Viveka, I fully agree, the pink ribbon thing should represent the fight against ALL kinds of cancer. That is why I said in my post “breast and other kinds of cancer”. There are so many wicked kind of diseases out there, it is beyond belief and very frightening.
I would also appreciate if companies who make pink ribbon items, would donate the entire sum of money to charitable projects that support the people who need it most in this situation.
