The first time I went trick or treating I was a little girl and we lived in Santa Monica, California. My aunt B. made me an outfit for Halloween and then she took me by the hand and we went from door to door…

Als ich das erste mal trick-or-treating war, war ich ein kleines Mädchen und wir lebten in Santa Monica, Kalifornien. Meine Tante B. hatte mir eigens für Halloween ein Kostüm genäht und dann nahm sie mich bei der Hand und wir gingen von Tür zu Tür…

…every time somebody opened I had to say: “Trick or treats, money or eats!”

…und immer wenn jemand öffnete, musste ich: “Trick or treats, money or eats!” sagen, was dem hiesigen “Süßes oder Saures!” entspricht.

Of course I wanted to dig into my big bag right away and eat my sweets, but noooooooooo….

Natürlich wollte ich sofort in meine große Tasche greifen und meine Süßigkeiten essen, aber neiiiiiiin….

 

…I had to wait until we got home and my aunt had inspected everything. She made sure that the my candy was ok, that nobody had stuck razor blades (!!!) or any other evil stuff into my treats. Yup, she was and still is today a wonderful and very precautious lady, especially if it’s in regard to her loved ones!

…ich musste warten, bis wir wieder Zuhause waren und meine Tante alles überprüft hatte. Sie hat meine Süßigkeiten akribisch inspiziert und auf Rasierklingen (!!!) und andere fiese Sachen untersucht. Ja, sie war und ist heute noch eine wunderbare und sehr vorsichtige Dame, insbesondere, wenn es um ihre Lieben geht. 

I don’t go trick or treating anymore, but I wanted to share the Halloween cookies my daughter and I baked last year. In case you might wonder – yes, modern witches need Louboutins and Kelly bags, too. Don’t you agree? This year I completely forgot Halloween, until a colleague mentioned a party for her daughters yesterday. Yikes       😉

Ich bin nicht mehr in Sachen Süßes oder Saures! unterwegs, aber ich wollte Ihnen die Halloween Kekse, die meine Tochter und ich letztes Jahr gebacken haben, nicht vorenthalten. Falls Sie sich wundern sollten – moderne Hexen brauchen natürlich auch Louboutins und Kelly Bags. Finden Sie nicht auch? In diesem Jahr habe ich Halloween total vergessen, bis eine Kollegin gestern von der Party für ihre Töchter erzählte. Oh weh       😉
