This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge theme is Street Life. What better picture to post than one of people strolling along Jungfernstieg, Hamburg’s boulevard right by the”Binnenalster”. For those of you who don’t know Hamburg: the Alster actually is a river that transforms itself into two lakes – the “Aussenalster” (outer Alster) and the “Binnenalster” (inner Alster) that ist smack bang in the middle of the city center, surrounded by Neuer Jungfernstieg, Jungfernstieg, Ballindamm and Lombards-Bridge.
In the background you can see a white squarish building, Hamburg Kunsthalle, which currently shows “Feuerbachs Musen, Lagerfelds Models” an exhibition well worth visiting!
Im Hintergrund sehen Sie ein weisses quadratisches Gebäude, die Kunsthalle Hamburg, die derzeit “Feuerbachs Musen, Lagerfelds Models” zeigt und sehenswert ist!
🙂 Have a very HAPPY Sunday! 🙂

This is sweet to see. We loved taking the train from Blankanese to downtown. I went everyday for about months to the Colonnade for my German classes. We were sad to hear Streit’s closed down though. Such a great old theatre and our access to English films:)
And it is so lovely to see the Alster with all the construction finished. We look forward to the time we can visit again.
Tschüß! xx

🙂 Moin, moin! Good to know that somebody far away is enjoying these pics.
Yes, it really is sad that Streit’s closed – I loved that movie theatre and always preferred it over the big huge movie houses with 10 – 20 theatres. This was a real beauty and a fun place to go to!
Colonnaden has changed a lot, too (I think) many of the little individual stores are closing down…
Tschüß xo

This I really understand! *smile –
No cat sitting in June, my friend didn’t get her holiday as she planned, but I’m still playing with the thought to come to town for a couple of days. Found an affordable hotel in the center, Hotel Das Triest.

If you need help with hotel bookings or anything, please let me know as I might be able to get better prices at some of the hotels here in Vienna 🙂 xo

Thank you so much – but I have got a really good deal, think it’s hard to beat – but I will send you an email about it. Very sweet of you to offer.
Afternoon hug.

Great photos. Absolutely love the different tones of blue in both the photos! Even the road looks bluish in the first photo. I’ve never been to Hamburg. It looks like a cold city weather-wise looking at your photos, but I’m sure it’s a great place to visit 🙂
