Weekly Photo Challenge: Room at Vienna State Opera

Loge Staatsoper Wien / box at Vienna State Opera

Loge Staatsoper Wien / box at Vienna State Opera

I like sitting in a box when I go to the opera or the theatre. Getting a tiny seat in the first row,  keeping my binoculars in front of me so that I can grab them any time I feel I need to see more or better, leaning on the railing and forgetting the world around me while singers, actors and the orchestra perform  – heaven!

Erwin Schrott‘s concert with his Rojotango company earlier this year was sweeping and the view from my box spectacular!

Thanks, I do too! And I love the huge chandeliers – here they are unbelievably pretty! 🙂

I totally agree with you about boxes/loges; one other big advantage they have: you can move your chair! 🙂

We so wanted to go to something there when we were in Vienna, but there were no operas being performed, alas !

I’be been to the opera, but I’ve never had a box. Must have been great!

It is! It’s so different from sitting in the auditorium – it somehow feels a lot mor “private”. Don’t really know how to describe it! 🙂

Just love your taking on the subject, my favorite is top photo – a very special room …. I have only been in box twice – both times in London … but I felt a bit uncomfortable, so afraid of heights. Vienna the city built on music, so envy. Have a lovely weekend and I hope the sun is with you too.

So grand! I didn’t see this when in Vienna in the 70’s, but I did get to the Spanish Riding School, which is also rather nice. I love the Lipizzaners, so it was a dream come true.

Then you’ve seen more than I have. I haven’t actually been to the riding school, I only see them every now and then when I walk past their “home”, right across from the Spanish Riding School and they’re quite amazing to watch.
      HAPPY weekend, dear Janet! 🙂

Same to you. It’s lovely here this weekend and our older daughter and her boyfriend just left after spending the weekend with us.

Same thing here – it’s been very hot, but after the long winter, it’s very enjoyable 😀

Lovely! It’s so hard to find opera or ballet tickets in London. Boxes are sold way in advance.

Here it’s a bit different – it seems we are very lucky! – tickets can be purchased online and it shows the seating system, so one can pick just the place one wants to sit (if one is quick enough, of course). But I bet that certain concerts/operas don’t go into the public sales, they’re sold out in advance… 🙂

HI Sherri, hope things are better for your daughter these days! No worries about slowing down – just the right thing to do when the body says so!!!
A very HAPPY week to you, too 🙂
