As you know, I am a big fan of (silk) scarves, Twillys and ribbons. Hermès prides itself that their silk scarves, ties and many other items are hand rolled and sewn. It’s done so meticulously and with enough extra fabric that there won’t be any fraying and one can appreciate the art of silk for a lifetime. In contrast to the artfully decorated scarves, this colorful silk “spaghetti” ribbon was machine-sewn. Apparently too close to the edge of the fabric, which made it fray.

Wie Sie wissen, bin ich ein großer Fan von Hermès (Seiden-) Tüchern, Twillys und Schleifen. Hermès rühmt sich damit Seidentücher, Krawatten und viele andere Dinge per Hand zu nähen. Das wird akribisch, mit ausreichend Saum gemacht, damit nichts ausfranst und man ewig dauernde Freude daran hat. Im Gegensatz zu den kunstvoll verzierten Tüchern wurde dieses farbenfrohe “Seiden-Spaghetti” mit der Maschine genäht. Anscheinend zu dicht am Rand, was zum Ausfransen geführt hat.
