If you – like me – like to have pretty nails on your holiday, you will have to take your manicure equuipment along. But are you sure you want to transport those little bottles of nail polish and remover openly in your suitcase? Have you ever experienced what nail varnish can do to your clothes?
A couple of days ago I told you I’d show you what I use my Lock & Lock containers for. They’re ideal for storing nail polish and all the little gadgets one needs for a decent holiday manicure. Since the boxes air tight you don’t need to worry about leakage in your suitcase. To be on the safe side you can additionally put either the bottles in little Zip Lock bags (which I tend to do) or put the entire container in a larger one.
If I travel with a small luggage, I’ll use a 12 oz. container, which is perfect for a short trip or a small selection. However, I try to make the most of it by taking a multi function product such as Catrice Luminous Nails 5 in 1 Care Polish, just to get that well manicured look if I don’t want color. For afternoon tea or a night on the town a bright color comes in handy. But see for yourself what fits into my box:
Aber sehen Sie selber, was in meine Dose passt:
ebelin nail polish remover 50ml
Catrice Luminous Nails 5 in 1 Care Polish – 40 Parfait Violet
essie 32 Exotic Liras
Sally Hansen Insta Dri Top Coat
Fill the gaps with an emery board, cuticle stick and cotton balls and what ever else you may need.
Let’s say you‘ll board the Queen Mary 2 or Queen Victoria in Southampton in order to take the 7 day journey to New York, then, hey, you will need lots of clothes – and lots of nail polishes to match them. You’ll be able to fit a nice selection into a 34 oz. Lock & Lock container and pack it in two layers. This larger box’s bottom row contains…
Catrice Express Cuticle Remover & Ultra Protect Base Coat
Black Bird Gel Look 44 Nep Tune
CHANEL Le Vernis 761 Lavanda
P2 Color Victim 693 that’s it
sasatinnie SPN137 Rose & SPR212 Lily
essence the gel 14 do you speak love?
just cosmetics gelicious 050 to be a princess
gosh cosmetics 639 French Dream
…and the top layer contains nail polish remover pads, nail polish remover pen, oil pen for cuticles, emery board, wooden cuticle stick, dotting tool, hand cream and a small manicure set. Again, I put the nail polish bottles additionally into little zip lock bags – better safe than sorry! – and the Lock & Lock box travels in my checked-in suitcase.
You think that if you can afford the Royal Suite you won‘t have to worry about shlepping nail polish in a plastic container along? Well, if you go for salon manicure on the ship then yes, you’re right. But if you actually enjoy trying out various colors on your nails during endless hours spent on the ocean then you won’t want a single one of your fancy and $ expensive $ dresses $ ruined by a leaky nail polish!
More to come soon.

:-) Was ist denn UV Lack? Shellac?
