It’s been a month, since I joined Cee’s Share Your World. Time to start anew.

Es ist schon ein Monat her, seit ich zuletzt an Cee’s Share Your World teilgenommen hab. Auf ein Neues!

1.What would your ideal fantasy way be to spend your Monday ? / Was wäre Ihre ideale Fantasie, um Ihren Montag zu verbringen?

Being able to sleep in, followed by a late breakfast with a friend, sister, cousin (and so on) and then chit-chatting away until our jaws hurt. I’d love that. It would be my fantasy of an ideal Monday.

Meine Vorstellung von einem idealen Montag wäre ausschlafen zu können und mich dann auf ein spätes Frühstück mit einer Freundin, Schwester, Cousine (usw.) treffen und ratschen zu können, bis uns die Kiefer weh tun. Das wäre phantastisch!

2.What one person that you are out of contact with would you like to say thank you to? / Welcher Person, mit der Sie nicht mehr im Kontakt stehen, möchten Sie danken?

I can’t think of anybody. / Ich wüßte nicht wem ich danken sollte.

3. List your favorite toys or games as a kid? / Listen Sie Ihre Lieblings Spielzeuge oder Spiele als Kind auf.

I don’t remember a favorite game, but I had a Thumbelina doll (who remembers them?). And because I’m German and couldn’t pronounce the “th” as a toddler, I called her Zambalina (in German the “z” is pronounced like a “ts”). Zambalina was my baby and she travelled every where with me. I recall that at the age of 4 I accompanied my dad to California. It must have been in winter, because I remember that Zambalina wore a snow suit. Once we arrived in Santa Monica she had to take a bath (just like me) and I gave her a good scrub and cut her hair. My aunt almost had a heart attack when she saw the doll and wanted to take me to the doll doctor to buy a wig for her. You have no idea how many ugly wigs are out there. Hence I declined everyone I was offered! I loved her pretty face and couldn’t care less about the missing hair!

Ich kann mich an keine Lieblingsspiel erinnern. Aber ich hatte eine Thumbelina-Puppe. Und weil ich deutsch bin und als Kleinkind das “th” noch nicht aussprechen konnte, habe ich sie Zambalina genannt. Sie war mein Baby und hat mich überall hin begleitet. Als ich vier Jahre alt war, habe ich mal meinen Vater nach Kalifornien begleitet. Die Reise muss im Winter stattgefunden haben, denn ich erinnere mich, dass meine Puppe einen Schneeanzug trug. In Santa Monica angekommen habe ich sie erst mal gebadet (das musste ich auch), geschrubbt und ihr die Haare geschnitten. Meine Tante hatte fast eine Herzattacke, als sie die malträtierte Puppe sah und fuhr gleich zum Puppendoktor mit mir. Dort wollte sie neue Haare für meine Zambalina kaufen, aber eine Perücke war hässlicher als die andere. Und so lehnte ich jedes Verschönerungsangebot vehement ab. Ich liebte ihr hübsches Gesicht, ihre fehlenden Haare waren mir komplett gleichgültig.

4.What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? / Was hat Ihnen gefallen oder was hat Sie in der vergangenen Woche zum Lachen gebracht?

I found my advent calendar! For a very long time I made advent calendars for others. Last year I decided it was time to treat myself. Pretty early in October or November I found one at my local Marionnaud cosmetics store that I purchased. I put it aside and completely forgot about it. Now I have a whole bunch of cosmetics (as if I didn’t have any already). The good thing is that they’re rather small and come in handy for a travel pouch. And all the glittery stuff will go directly to the Little One, she can wear it for her carnival party in school  😉

Ich habe meinen Adventskalender gefunden! Viele Jahre lang habe ich Adventskalender für andere gebastelt. Vergangenes Jahr entschloss ich mich mir selber einen zu gönnen. Ich kaufte mir schon im Oktober oder November einen bei meinem Marionnaud um die Ecke. Ich stellte den Kalender weg und vergass ihn. Nun habe ich ganz viel Kosmetik (als ob ich nicht ohnehin schon reichlich davon hätte). Das Schöne daran ist, dass es kleine Größen sind, die ideal ins Reise-Täschchen passen. Das ganze Glitzer-Zeugs schenke ich gleich der Lütten, die es für die nächste Faschings-Party verwenden kann.
