Time flies and it’s been ages since I did a share your world. However, this one is with a twist and I can answer these questions, although I haven’t read a single Harry Potter book. Somehow I never got into that. I read Riddle from the Middle’s answers and decided to join in. So, let’s get started:
.

Which side? Your side? My side?
.
SHARE YOUR WORLD MEETS HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
Have you ever driven the wrong way on a one-way street?
How did this come about?
No, I havent. But I’ve driven on the wrong side of the road. That happened many years ago when I drove off a ferry and happily headed for a town close by where I was to meet my friend who was going to navigate us on a vintage car rallye. Only problem was, that I had arrived in Scotland where you drive on the left side of the street…
.

six year old me
.
As a kid, did you ever decide to run away?
Did you have a plan? Take a pet? Sandwiches?
Yes, I did. My parents were on a winter holiday somewhere afar in the snow, while I had to go to school and stay with my paternal grandparents. If I remember correctly I was a first grader. My grandfather and I never really hit it off, because I was his first grand child and a girl – he had expected a boy.
One morning we got into an argument because he had given me some pocket money the day before and I had already spent it on stickers I collected. He was of the opinion that I should have put it into my piggy bank and scolded me for not saving it. I was really angry and got very emotional, because my spending it caused such a commotion. After all it was my money! So I just threw a couple of things into my school bag and decided to leave for my maternal grandma… (never made it there, because my paternal grandmother got hold of me when I left the elevator).

You suddenly found you have a hidden talent for playing a musical instrument.
What musical instrument do you hope that accompanies your talent? Any particular song?
It must be the piano – but no particular song. I had lessons when I was in my youth and I enjoyed the idea of being able to play. But practicing was not one of my favorite chores.
.

How I Wear My Pearls
.
Do you accessorize with jewelry?
There was an opal necklace (cursed) and Slytherin’s locket (also cursed) in the Potter story. Have you had any heirloom jewelry passed down through generations? Is it more „keepsake“ or do you wear it on occasion (hopefully not cursed)?
Do I accessorize with jewelry? My middle name spells out JEWELRY! No, just joking. But yes, I like rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings – the whole lot. I shared How I Wear My Pearls here some time ago.

arm candy – going a bit crazy on Hermès silk and enamel bracelets
.
Since my grandparents had to flee their home town and country in World War II there was no heirloom to be passed on to me. My grandma told me that all jewelry was spent on buying food and whatever was needed during that time.
One of my „passions“ is arm candy. So you’ll find me sporting silver or leather bracelets and often a silk Hermès Twilly, too.
By the way,
you can still join my giveaway for this Hermès Twilly here!

And now the TRADITIONAL QUESTIONS:
What ingredients go into your favorite salad?
- Lettuce
- tomatoes
- carrots
- red, orange or yellow bell peppers (no green ones!)
- cucumber
- celery
- radish
.
As a dressing I like to mix olive oil and balsamico vinegar with a bit of salt and freshly ground pepper.

Share something that really irritates you
When I started my apprenticeship ages ago we learned in school that those who were in the German army had to wait 24 hours before being allowed to file a complaint. This is one of the best rules I’ve learnt, because I used to be quite the emotional type and got worked up in no time. I’ve learned that an agitated choice of words and emotional letters flying back and forth don’t often lead to a successful outcome.
Many years later I had a boss who didn’t make any crucial decisions before having slept on them for a night and thinking about the pros and cons thoroughly. Over the years I’ve improved a great deal and I’m slowly but surely getting there. I no longer write agitated letters or messages, don’t scream at people (I only do so when in the car and due to idiotic drivers on the road, which makes my daughter and nieces always laugh). I try to take out any negative emotion if I feel I have to get personal.
.

where do I go from here?
.
So what really irritates me is when I’m trying my best to word something as neutral as possible, yet with the right words to let the other one know how I feel, is when that person rants right back at me, without thinking things over and accuses me with whatever comes to mind in a state of anger. Which leaves me thinking now what and where do I go from here?
.

Macarons and some bubbly can really make a day – COViD or not
.
What are your favorite „lounging around the house“ items of clothing?
Now that a lot of people „lounge around the house“ waiting for the all clear in respect to COVID being shown the door, have those lounging items changed?
My favorite lounging around the house items vary. In summer it will be a comfy cotton dress and in winter I like to wear a pair of comfortable (sweat) pants with a nice t-shirt and a cosy sweater.
.
.
GRATITUDE (optional)
Please feel free to share something about Autumn (or Spring if you’re gearing up for that) that you especially enjoy.
Presently I’m grateful for the lovely sunny weather we’re having. Especially in times like these, were COVID cases are increasing rapidly again, blue skies and sunshine make the world look a lot better.
.

Thank you, Melanie and Roger for your share your world ideas!

I feel the same way about people who wait for an opening to shoot back a response instead of listening to understand. It’s frustrating to feel like you’re talking to a brick wall.

🙂 Thank you, dear Laura,
you know exactly how it feels!
A very HAPPY week to you 🙂

Such good advice about waiting 24 hours. So often things that felt terribly important or aggravating don’t seem that way at all after a time and you have no foot to take out of your mouth. 🙂 I enjoyed reading your answers and wish I had some of your salad handy for dinner tonight. I’m sorry there were no heirlooms to pass down to you but better to have your grandparents!
I hope your week’s off to a most excellent start, dear Claudia.

🙂 That’s exactly right, dear Janet.
Time does a lot – and in this case it helps!
My salad was delicious – less the celery that I can’t seem to get here presently.
Take care and have a very HAPPY day 🙂
