Yellow Orange is this week’s Color Your World topic, a challenge hosted by Tourmaline here. I have joined it a couple of times with i.e. Pink Flamingo here and Lavender here  and have been meaning to post a couple of pictures for a while. But you know how it goes… I’ve been in holiday mood and somehow couldn’t get into the blogging swing.

BEADS

A couple of days ago I received a parcel with a selection of beads, including a few packets of yellow orange ones in different sizes. So as soon as I had organized them all according to color I began to lay them out. Normally I play around with colors and sizes for a while before I start adding them on elastic cord or jewelry wire, just to get a feel for color combinations.

PEARLS, GIRLS!

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing quite a bit of beading. I love bright colors, as you may know by now. But I also have a penchant for pearls – for small ones, as well as for big ones. I like them all! Hence I like to include freshwater pearls in my bracelets and necklaces.

COSTUME JEWELRY OR THE REAL DEAL?

Wearing jewelry is something very personal. I find it very interesting to see how there are classic looks, like pearl earrings or diamond studs combined with maybe a pearl necklace and a wedding band or diamond ring. And then there are those with the signet ring on the pinky… Others stack up on designer costume jewelry. And yet others again will wear anything – be it from the bubble gum machine or from a vintage jeweler’s shop.

ONE OR MORE?

My personal mantra is MIX IT! And when it comes to wearing bracelets I have to say THE MORE THE MERRIER! I mix styles and materials – pearls, glass, silver, gold, leather, silk, whatever comes to mind and whatever I like. Also, wearing a selection of colorful armcandy spices up any drab outfit instantly.
