Planning a Trip – Daily Prompt

.

Today’s daily prompt is trip HERE. I love going on trips, although it’s been a while. A workload that seems to grow by the week, colleagues on long sick-leaves, horrible weather, unstable political situations in the east part of Europe – all that seems to add to my recent lack of traveling.

ORGANIZING A TRIP

However, it’s time to plan a trip! And while I enjoy searching for places to go, be it cities or exhibitions, I hate everything related to packing my suitcase and travel bags. I feel that packing for a trip in summer is a lot easier than during this time of the year. A couple of dresses, swim gear, sandals, ballerina flats and maybe a shawl or two are thrown into a suitcase in no time. But packing for chilly, rainy days? That seems to take me forever!

PACKING LISTS

Days, sometimes even weeks before I go on a trip, I will start writing my packing list. I’m very old fashioned in some ways, hence I keep the list in my diary. Whatever comes to mind goes on the list, which is divided into various categories i.e. tops, accessories, shoes and so on. This helps any kind of outfit planning tremendously and keeps me from randomly throwing favorite items in all shades of the rainbow into my bags. And since I love colors (as you know HERE and HERE) I can easily end up with pink, purple, orange and red on a weekend trip to I don’t know where. That might just be a tad too much… Once the list is completed I pack every item in my suitcase and check it off the list.

TRAVEL PILLOW

Ever since I was handed a pillow with lipstick marks on a long haul flight ages ago, I pack my own little pillow on every trip I take. I hate the thought of resting my face on pillows full of other people’s germs and whatnot. Apart from that huge pillows give me headaches. And with my little pillow at hand I can take a snooze whether I’m on a train or a plane.

My next trip is not too far away and I’m pretty well prepared. Where I’ll be going to? Wait and see…

.

🙂.      A VERY HAPPY AND PEACEFUL EASTER TO YOU!       🙂

Oh, my, what a joy to see a post from you, my friend!! I love traveling too but have been doing only driving trips for the last three years (since I haven’t been back to Europe since Covid arrived in 2020.) I made so many travel lists that I finally made one fairly comprehensive list and put it on my laptop. I print it off before every trip, marking out what I don’t need (for instance, a passport for any recent trips.) I can add things at the bottom and I gather everything in our guest room before packing it. Works pretty well for me.

      🙂 Thank you, dear Janet!
I have a list on my laptop as well…but most of the time I forget to print it and so I go back to the good old pencil and diary 😉
I’m so used to needing only my ID card when traveling in Europe, that it can become an issue if I travel to a European country that requires a passport! Fortunately I keep expiration dates of important documents like these up to date…
Hope you had a lovely Easter Sunday
      xo 🙂
