. .
As many of you know I am a vintage lover HERE and Here. I have this thing for beautiful old bags and accessories. Apart from that, I find that vintage cars stand out and that their designs are far better than that of today’s plastic cars. And no, I wouldn’t lease or buy an electric car. In my opinion electric cars are the worst example of “green washing”. But that’s a different story…

A tattoo? thank you, but no thank you!
.
If you wanted to do something completely against your character, would you dye your hair a shocking colour, shave your head or get a tattoo?
.
That’s an interesting question. If I had to do something completely against my character, I would probably get a pixie hair cut. No, I would not shave my head! And as much as I like make-up and nail polish, I can’t get my head round to having a picture, a name or what not “engraved” into my skin.

What is your dream/perfect job?
What would my perfect dream job be? Probably I’d be working in the archives and studios of some famous handbag makers and learn all about the history and techniques of manufacturing them. And once I’m truly familar with the ins and outs, I would be selling (vintage) bags and accessories and have a lot of interesting stories to tell my customers.

under cover: a very special Mercedes for a vintage lover
.
My partner – who is something like a walking encyclopeadia for vintage Mercedes-Benz cars, specialized on the legendary W198 models, would be doing something similar. He would work on and evaluate – and maybe sell one or the other – vehicle, while I might be searching for the ideal item that would go with the drivers and their cars, matching our passion for quality and excellent craftsmanship.

flying in the 1970’s
.
Would you like to learn how to fly an aeroplane?.
I come from a family that’s always been flying. My dad, my grandfather and my uncles have flown one and two engine aircrafts. My brother was a commercial pilot flying the huge A380 aircrafts. I recall flying in the 1970’s: from Santa Monica to Long Beach airport for work. Or spending long weekends in Cabo San Lucas HERE, when there were only one or two small hotels and the landing strip was only sand and dust. In those days you could forget your camera or travel bag laying right next to the plane…and a day later these things were still there waiting for you.

a vintage car lover’s dream
.
No, I was never interested in flying a plane myself. In spite of that, I wanted to be a flight attendant when I was a kid. In those days they were called stewardesses. However, I wouldn’t mind knowing how to land one of those commercial planes, should there ever be the need for it!

Have you been on a hovercraft?
Yes, I’ve been on a hovercraft a.k.a Hoverspeed years ago, ferrying from – I think – Dover to Calais. It was not your usual ferry trip, but something completely different and I thought fun. Sadly, this service stopped in 2005, due to increasing costs and competition.

Thanks for joining in and sharing your world. There’s something about a vintage car…………. it has character, charisma, individuality. Not like the mass produced vehicles off the production line these days……. different logos on the bonnet, but the shape or colour are the same.

:-) Dear Di,
I fully agree. I’ve worked in the car industry for many years. And these days I’m having difficulties telling the modern vehicles apart. That won’t haben with a vintage model.
Have a HAPPY day and thank again for this week’s questions! :-)

:-) Danke, liebe Ines”
Liebe Grüße in meine Heimat :-)
