Another hot summer day and July has just begun… Let’s hope that this heat wave doesn’t stay too long and we’ll be able to cool off a bit. A lot has happened over the last six months. Maybe Pensitivity1o1’s “Share your world” questions will answer some of yours why I haven’t been posting a lot lately.

Half the year is now over. Have you had any memorable highlights in the past six months?

Yes, I have quite a few memorable highlights: My partner was very ill and hospitalized beginning of the year. I flew to the UK for a surprise visit in the ICU. He couldn’t believe his eyes when I showed up. To me that was the most natural thing to do. Apparently that was a first for him (strange world!). However, my January was filled with trips to London, in order to check on his recovery.

But in spite of that I took a bit of time out and combined my visits with a little trip to the V&A and to the Louis Vuitton X Murakami HERE pop-up. Just to clear my mind and fill my tummy with a delicious scone, clotted cream and strawberry jam at the V&A’s Member Room.

And the rest of the time I’ve spent endless hours on the train to Hamburg and back (next to my work!), in order to spend some time with my mom, who has been diagnosed with dementia in spring last year.

What are you looking forward to in the coming six months?

I retired on 1st July. Hence it seems I’ve got all the time in the world on my hands. Anyhow, my brother has already „hired“ me to help him with his accounting in the next couple of weeks. So I’ll be continuing my travels back and forth between Austria, Germany and the UK.

Nevertheless, I am looking forward to spontaneous trips, whenever my heart desires. Like I’d love to go back to Sylt or Sardinia, where I’ve spent fun hot summer holidays. Another perk of not having to get up early is being able to read all night long, if I’ve gotten hold of a real good book.

Presently I’m struggling on “The Exchange” by John Grisham HERE. Yes, struggling. Somehow the story hasn’t gripped me as other Grisham novels have. Have you read it yet?

And of course I want to get back to blogging regularly, like I used to.

How do you keep cool on a hot summer day?

Depending on where I am on a very hot day, I’ll either go swimming, take a couple of showers or let the fan cool me off. And not to be forgotten: lots of ice cream for me!

But to be quite frank, I would love to fly to Sardinia and spend some time by the beach and in the sea. Lovely water, clear and you can even see tiny fish swimming around. They’ll even swim around your legs if you stand still in the water for a little while. Who knows what these hot summer days will bring…

Have you ever danced in the rain?

Yes, I’ve danced in the rain. After getting over the initial shock of getting totally soaked, I had lots of fun doing so :-)
